Can Media Converters alter the speed of a network?
No, Media Converters cannot alter the speed of data transmission. However, we do have media converting Switches which operate at 10/100TX on their copper port, and 100FX on their fiber port. Therefore, you could have a 10Mbps device connected to the copper port on this converter, and increase the data rate to 100Mbps over the fiber run. These media converting Switches are found in the FS200 series. |
