What is the function of the ECO Friendly feature on an 8100S series switch?
The function of the ECO Friendly feature on an 8100S series switch is to reduce the power consumption of the switch by turning off the port LEDs on the switch.
The 8100S series switches have an ECO Friendly button on the front, that when pressed will turn off the port LEDs. Pressing the ECO Friendly button again will turn the port LEDs back on. You can also turn the port LEDs off in the CLI using the “ecofriendly led” command in Global Configuration mode. Turn the port LEDs on in the CLI, use the “no ecofriendly led” command in Global Configuration mode.
Example:
awplus(config)#ecofriendly led (turns port LEDs off)
awplus(config)#no ecofriendly led (turns port LEDs on)
Stacked Configuration: If you have 8100S series switches in stacking mode, the use of the “ecofriendly led” commands control all switches in the stack. However, pressing the ECO Friendly button on a single switch in the stack controls the port LEDs for that single switch in the stack.
